This isn’t just another online class—it’s a summer of reflecting deeply on our dīn and what it means in our daily lives, growing together, and developing our own shakhsiyah!

About Shakhsiyah Education: The Shakhsiyah Education model, well known across the world for its unique use of halaqah, has been developed through trial and practice over 22 years of work in Shakhsiyah Schools, UK and through Dr Farah Ahmed’s philosophical and empirical research at the University of Cambridge. Shakhsiyah Education endeavours to nurture the natural disposition (fitrah) of each individual child in order to develop his/her personal character (shakhsiyah) into a well rounded, confident Muslim who has sincerity in intention and steadfastness in action.

What exactly is this programme? It’s a five-week virtual summer camp, but not in the typical sense. Each weekday, your child will join a one-hour halaqah session online—led by an experienced teacher who will guide discussions, share stories, and help children reflect in an engaging, age-appropriate way.

What is a halaqah? A halaqah is a traditional Islamic learning circle—an intimate, respectful space for discussion, learning, and personal growth. In our camp, this means children ask questions, reflect deeply, and engage with Islamic knowledge in a way that’s joyful and meaningful. They think together about what Islam means in their lives and how to live as Muslims.

How is halaqah different from Islamic studies? Unlike traditional Islamic studies classes, halaqah isn’t about memorising facts or simply listening to lectures. It’s a circle of shared thinking, reflection, and growth. We build deep conceptual understanding over time by exploring meaningful themes, asking big questions, and connecting learning to real life. Learners are active participants in shaping the learning, not just receivers of information

What is Shakhsiyah Islamiyah? Shakhsiyah Islamiyah goes beyond character and personality. It refers to developing a strong personhood rooted in Islamic beliefs, ethics, and purpose. It is about developing our relationships with allah, ourselves, our families and communities. Our programmes aim to nurture young people to think deeply, act sincerely, and live meaningfully as Muslims in the world today.
